School Bulletin & Newsletter

Spring has arrived, and with it, a great deal of new experiences and learning opportunities for our students. Thank you to the parents, guardians, and all members of the community who have given their time, effort, and support. Your efforts are a crucial part of the success of the school and its students. A brand new look for the Starting Point website is currently being developed, so please pardon our dust while work is in progress. Additional updates, information, and new content will continue being posted in this location in the meantime. Your attention and patience during this time is appreciated as we continue to update as quickly as possible.

Teacher Appreciation Week

The week of May 2nd to May 6th was Teacher Appreciation Week. Thank you to the Starting Point Dad's Club for providing lunch for the teachers and staff on Friday. We would also like to give a special thank you to Kevin Davenport (Kameron), Clarence Williams (Josef & James Grandad), and Wesley Haynes (Zoe) for their time and assistance during the event. To all of the parents and students who offered loving and caring cards, we are deeply grateful. Everyone also enjoyed the chicken wings, cakes, and cheesecake brought in as snacks. We also appreciate Chandra Fowler - and her company the Ice Cream Place - for supplying the teachers with many other delicious treats. Everyone contributed so much to make this Teacher Appreciation Week a wonderful experience. Your support and caring actions are a continuing inspiration!

Classroom Happenings

Shining Stars Class
Spring Greetings from the Shining Stars Classroom!

We are continuing to let our light shine....choosing challenging work, following ground rules and being the best we can be.

We have been learning a lot and having fun while experiencing new lessons. Our school year is almost over so we are reviewing as well.

May is a busy month with many exciting activities! The Detroit Zoo will visit on the 4th and 18th. Also, we will have school picture day, a Cinco de Mayo fiesta, Box Tops pajama party and our year-end school luncheon. We are looking forward to these events which make our school so special.

It's a great month to show Mom how much you love and appreciate her. We sincerely wish all our SPM Moms a Happy Mother's Day! Enjoy your day - you deserve it!

It's also a wonderful time to bird watch, listen to the birds sing, plant flowers or trees, and plant seeds!

Happy Spring!

Toddler Class

Happy Spring from the Toddler Class!

In the coming days, our toddlers will be reviewing everything that they have learned from the beginning of the school year.

The toddlers will be using large color boxes to identify each color (red, yellow and blue); they will also practice identifying the rainbow colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) with the primary colors. They know their colors and shapes!

We would like to thank each and every parent for bringing their child to Starting Point Montessori each day. Hope to see you in the upcoming school year too!

Warm Regards,

Mrs. Hall / Mrs. Marshall

Infant Class
The infants love the new wall mirror. The mirror is small and set at an infant's height. There is a wooden bar mounted across the middle of the mirror so that the infants can pull themselves up to stand close by. The infants are having fun looking at their own faces and standing at the mirror.

Our infants also really enjoy looking at their flashcards. They can now recognize an apple and a banana after practicing with them. Our flash cards are a wonderful way to teach the children how to recognize fruits and vegetables and colors and shapes.

If you ask our infants what to say as you are using the flashcards, they can say “apple” and “banana”.

Happy Spring!
