Parental Involvement
Nothing is as important to Montessori schooling as parent involvement. We believe a strong relationship between home and school is essential to a solid foundation. We encourage our parents to take every opportunity to participate in the education of their children. We embrace and foster an open line of communication between parents, directresses and directors, and school.
We invite frequent visits and provide a variety of parent volunteer opportunities. After hours informal parent education programs are also available. Each is designed to guide you through the journey of helping your child discover and enjoy a lifetime of learning.
Conferences
Open and frequent communication is essential to your child's education. We are happy to talk with you about your child's progress, our school, and the philosophy behind the Montessori Method - the cornerstone of our program. Four times each academic year, we invite parents to regularly scheduled, formal conferences with your child's directresses or director. We also invite you to discuss your child's progress with us at any other time during the school year. Please feel free to make an appointment with your child's directress or director at any time. Observation
As a parent, you may wish to observe one of our classes. This is an excellent way to understand what makes a Starting Point education so unique. come by or a visit and you will see our very busy classrooms. Whether they are working on geographic puzzle maps, counting beads, or reading, each child is truly engaged in a fun learning activity. Even lunch is an opportunity for learning, as we nurture mealtime social skills and good manners. Our children enjoy serving themselves and conversing over lunch. After lunch, quiet item provides the children with the opportunity to read a book or listen to music in a relaxed atmosphere.
How to Get Involved
Volunteer
We welcome your participation and encourage your involvement in your child's education. Starting Point Montessori invites parent volunteers to help with specific events or field trips. Parents are always invited to help with other activities as well, such as reading during class time.
Parent Education
Our school hosts regular Parent Education evenings and invites parents to participate. These sessions are designed to provide parents with helpful advice on a broad range of parenting issues. Subjects include everything from discipline to Montessori in the home. Some sessions feature an outside speaker.
